randomness

Life..exciting. I'm really looking forward to Bible study tonight. It's usually the highlight of my week, though last THursday night I had a great time with the ladies. I really want to do some shopping today, but I don't think I'll have the time. I'm in class right now, and it is extremely boring. I am having a much harder time paying attention in class these days. I think because I graduate this year, and I'm getting really excited about my post graduation plans.

I may be taking the bar in July. SO, who knows what I'll be doing between July and November when I get my results. My lease is up in July too, so I'll have to make plans to bounce it. A position with the FBI has caught my attention and interest recently. Dana doesn't think I should do it since I would have to carry a gun. It's a long, extensive application and training process.

Then, I really think Word of Faith Bible training center is in the future, not necessarily the near future, but the future. So, a lot is bouncing around in my head these days. Exciting stuff

article on black men in church

http://www.detnews.com/2005/editorial/0509/25/A21-325982.htmInteresting article on black men being alienated by black churches. Thought you might be interested in reading it.

One of my WHITE homies, Adam Crawford from law school, sent me this article on black men in church. Now, some stuff in the article I was feeling. Particularly, I really feel that the church could play a bigger role in attacking urban crime. Especially with Bush's faith-based initiative funding, it's a great opportunity for the church to set up church-affiliated task forces and organizations to attack inner city crime. Many black churches are sitting right in the hood, and can't get not one thug delivered.

However, the little part on preachers and benz' and stuff--probably written out of ignorance.

maleness

it never ceases to amaze me how weird you guyz are. What's wrong with you? It's probably Adam's fault. I'm not sure. There's not a male in my life who I can say I completely understand. AM I the weird one? don't think so...

anywho, i was thinking about some of my friends yesterday, and the different things they offer:

If you need a good laugh--dana & alvin; something funny's always happening to them

need a good story--k Lynn. Something weird and funny is always happening to her

need someone to preach--denard

need a testimony--kevlo dollar

need a sweet answer no matter what the issue--darrian

need a poem--marcus allan pitman

need to hear about a vision--darriel

need a hug--skyler, shawndia

need something to eat--mark; quita

need good advice--james the investigator; kenti

need a smile--michelle

a strange idea--jon moss

there's more; i'll continue on this later

this exercise thing

Bishop Butler says that every person influences at least 7 people. With that in mind, my dad a year and a half ago, my dad began training for a marathon. Now he has run in a couple of marathons, and many mini-marathons. So we saw him and he looks all healthy and stuff. So now, me and one of my brothers are runniing regularly. My brother has set a marathon-related goal. I have no marathon plans, I just know it's time to get in shape. SO, after one week of running, i finally ran a mile without stopping today. YEAH!!!

In other news, I have been getting a lot of thoughts lately on post-law school plans, and many of them have included Bible school at Word of Faith. Okay, so why BIble School? I don't know. Maybe God has a plan. I don't know if I'm a five-folder. I do know that I am about to be in charge of alter calls at the campus ministry. And, there might be a touch of music ministry on the inside of me. Also, I love being on the street and talking to folks, you know, preaching the gospel to the poor and brokenhearted.

I have had some dreams and stuff in the past, but I'm now hoping they're unrelated to Bible School. : )

new members, new beginnings

so I'm officially a member of Word of Faith International Christian Center. Now I need to take believers classes so I can serve in the various departments at church.
Note to self: Kevin and Dana have light-skinned tendencies after 11:00pm.
Anywho, so I'm in class now. Just got off of work. Mondays are kind of busy after 12:00pm. I did get in a morning jog today, and felt very good. I've actually been trying this 6 days a week exercise thing.
I have this neighbor and last night he was kind of down. So I spit some word to him and then took him some strawberry shortcake ice cream. He felt better.
I got some books and my latest list that I'm working on. Faith and Patience by Bishop, and also another book by BIshop about purpose. Then, I just borrowed the five love languages for singles. I guess it's a little different than the main one. Anywho, class is starting and my neighbor isn't here, so I think I'll pay attention this time.

weekend

labor day weekend. Cool. We had fun. Rented the first season of the Cosby show from Hollywood Video, and I rented a veggie tales top songs tape. Friday night I made tacos (veggie tacos) for myself, the twins, and our neighbor Mark. I think everyone enjoyed it. Saturday night Mark bought us pizza. Sunday--church at Word of Faith, and then Danielle had a hurricane relief fundraiser BBQ in Detroit, and it as fun. I made a new homie on Sunday. His name's Rudy.
Monday, we taught Darrian how to make grilled cheese sandwiches. Mark made some banana pudding. Then we all went to Quita's cuz she cooked. It was fun over there.

Last night..SELAH CAMPUS MINISTRY...YEAH!!!! Good stuff!
